Be kind to Mama.

to those surrounding and supporting new mamas,

be kind to her.

hold space for her by letting her look the way she does, feel the way she feels.

offer love instead of critique. grace instead of expectation.

dont give her advice unless shes asking for help.

let her know shes doing an really good job, because shes doing the best she knows how.

dont shame her if she sets a boundary to stay home, or to rest.

dont tell her that you feel far from her, because shes learning how to stay present with herself.

dont take it personally if you feel like youre not as close because shes getting to know her new best friend.

dont tell her what the best choice for her baby is, she needs to learn to trust herself.

if shes telling you something is good and maybe even “easy” or going smooth, dont tell her “just wait”, because you dont know what her experience will look like.

dont tell her to “soak it all in, because it goes quick”. she already knows this, shes experiencing it.

tell her she looks beautiful.

dont ask her how she is, maybe ask her what shes struggling with so she knows she safe to be as she is.

Be kind to Mama,

shes doing her best.

shes not fully herself, and might never be again,

shes reacclimating.

she relearning.

shes becoming.

Shes the best mama she knows how to be.
